Successfully completed the Open Day at CERTH CPERI: An Impressive Journey into Innovation and Science

The OPEN DAY was held on 17 October 2023 at the premises of the Institute of CERTH CPERI Ptolemais. The event is part of the G.EM.S (Stimulating Green Employment – Cross-border Educational and Technological Innovation) project and aimed to bring the public closer to innovation, science and technology.

OPEN DAY opened its doors to the general public, providing an opportunity for those who visited to have an amazing experience. Visitors had the opportunity to tour the Institute’s premises, talk to the staff and become familiar with its work.

During the tour, expert technical scientists of the Institute informed the visitors about new technologies and laboratory equipment used in fuel, ash and wastewater utilization analyses. In addition, visitors had the opportunity to visit the laboratory’s pilot units, such as the biogas production unit and the carbon dioxide capture unit.

In addition, visitors were introduced to new technologies in the field of construction, such as 3D printing technology, the use of drones, and in the field of information technology, such as artificial intelligence. Finally, they were informed through audiovisual material about the creation and development of an H2 Innovation Hub and Green Energy Technologies in Western Macedonia, which is one of the important projects of the deginning and energy transition.

The researchers and all technical experts of the CPERI were available to provide information and raise awareness among the public, regardless of age.

The programme of the Open Day included several interesting talks, such as:

  • 10:00 – 12:00: Visit of the public and schools to the CERTH CPERI facilities.
  • 12:00 – 12:30: Presentation of the G.EM.S. project – Presentation of Partners.
  • 12:30 – 13:00: Cutting-edge technologies.
  • 13:00 – 13:30: Youth participation to create a green future.
  • 13:30 – 14:00: The innovation ecosystem and perspectives in Western Macedonia.

The event was supported by the Interreg IPA CBC programme and the national funds of the partner countries and was an important step towards promoting innovation and green employment.
